car - Bugatti Veyron

car AD's take on motoring, Article 4- Bugatti Veyron by AD
There comes now and again a car that has the balls to have no personality whatsoever. A car that earns respect by simply going fast. A car that is so bad that I would rather drown my youngest son and stab him repeatedly while I am drowning him than own one. I'm talking about the ugly, uncouth, unoriginal, cold, stifling and German (Oh great)- Bugatti Veyron. What's even worse is that they turned the grand name of Bugatti into a festering putrid bag of mouldering faeces. By they I mean Volkswagen. Typical for a German company to take a classic name like Bugatti and deform it into an indescribable mass of passionless vomit. So let us continue with what is my first but, judging by the state of this sick world we live in, certainly not the last negative review, this about the Bugatti Veyron. First off, let's look at the exterior. A German would say that the exterior is highly aerodynamic and technically perfect- the body of a true supercar. I would say to you that the exterior bears resemblance to a heat seeking missile- It does its job as effectively and efficiently as possible but is cold and unforgiving. Just look at this- it's the kind of thing Steven Hawkings would imagine. The retro styled grille just looks out of place, like the engineers just threw it on at the last minute. A shameless and perverted attempt to somehow try to win back the classic car enthusiasts' favour. Hah! So now we come to the numbers. The average soulless, penisless and sadistic German would go into epileptic fits of joy at this point and relay enthusiastically the Veyron's incredible top speed and its mind numbing engine displacement figures. I simply glance disgustedly at the figures and spit on them. I do owe it to my readers to show these figures, however, so here goes. The top speed is 253 miles per hour (like anyone gives a s##t), nought to sixty takes 2.5 seconds and 0-100 takes 5.2 seconds. It can do a standing quarter mile in 10 seconds and has 1001 brake horsepower. Happy? Cause I'm sure not! Those inbreeding Jew -burning Hitler- idoling idiots that are the German race have destroyed Bugatti! I mean, look at what those French geniuses used to come up with- the exquisite Bugatti Royale. This masterpiece was twenty one feet of style, flair and soul. Only six were ever made- mostly due to the fact that the world was in depression. But this was the ultimate in status symbols- If you owned one you were known as the unparalleled success story of your generation. The Veyron makes you look like the unparalleled prick of your generation- the sort of person who bores people to tears with your lap times and has an overhead projected timer bolted on your windscreen. Germans live in a strange world of car production- that every part if a car must have a purpose. They frown upon emphasis on aesthetics or character. They pride themselves on their wastelessness, full efficiency and little compromise. Their idea of a dream car is something like the Veyron- a soulless robot, neutral and unbiased, that is simply a bucket load of science and maths. They are so wrong. When will those spawns of Lucifer learn that a good car is not something you make with your head- it's something that you make with your heart. Never forget your heritage, Bugatti- The Royale was known as the best car ever made! Don't listen to those crap eating Germans. Be bold. Be brilliant. Be inspired. Be Bugatti.

The Tesla Model S, the Spark in Electric Cars

The Tesla Model S, the Spark in Electric Cars by Dave Foord

Why is it that most electric cars look like they've been designed by five year olds? The Gee Wiz, the Nice MyCar, the Sakura Maranello 4, all cars that would, without the benefit of CGI, fit quite comfortably into the next Pixar Cars Movie. Why? When electric car designers roll up their sleeves and sit in front of a drawing board, do they suddenly regress to an age where trees look like lollipops and sheep bear a striking resemblance to the clouds above them. Funky, innovative, ground breaking designs that are hardly ever practical. That was until the launch of the Tesla Model S.
Now many people will point to the Tesla Roadster. That doesn't look like it's been designed by a child. And no it was wasn't, it was designed with help from Lotus. A beautiful looking car without a doubt, but hardly practical. In fact rumours abound over the internet that Governor Schwarzenegger - one time android and full time green warrior - would like to return his roadster as he has difficulty fitting in it.
So why is the Model S any different? Put simply, it looks fantastic and it is extremely practical. Designed by former Mazda man Franz Von Holzhausen, the Model S would look just as at home on the streets of London as it would in the Hollywood Hills. Drawing inspiration no doubt from the likes of Jaguar and BMW, The Model S has distinctly European looks and will appeal to a worldwide market, which is more than can be said for many other "normal" American cars.
With a price tag of just under $50,000 after a $7,500 tax rebate the Model S may look slightly expensive, but if this price is achievable it will only be $4,000 more than a BMW 5 Series 528i, certainly not a price that could prove prohibitive. So what do you get for your hard earned cash? The base model will come equipped with a battery pack with a 160 mile range, add more cells and a range of 230 miles can be achieved, move up to the high capacity battery pack and the Tesla Model S will offer a range up to 300 miles. Tesla have also announced plans to allow owners of base models the ability to rent higher capacity battery packs when they need to make longer journeys, although it is not yet that clear how long it will take to change batteries. Charging time could be as little as 45 minutes on a fast charge, although a full charge is more likely to be in the region of four hours, making overnight charging the best option.
With regard to performance the Model S will certainly be no slouch, nought to sixty times are expected to be under six seconds with a top speed electronically limited to 130 mph. A sport model slated to be released in the second year of production is expected to trim another second off the 0 - 60 time.
It's not just technology that produces power for the car, a video screen in the centre console that is effectively a small computer with 3G internet access - a computer that Tesla can access with your permission to diagnose any problems - controls the cars systems including sat nav , audio, air con plus many other features and it's a touch screen too.
With seating for up to seven, the tessla Model S shows what can be achieved when the right people get together, hopefully Tesla will get adequate funding from the American government to push this technology through, before they spend it all on Chevy Volt - a car that certainly won't se
ll worldwide.

Compare Car Insurance for the Best Possible Rates

car
Car Insurance for the Best Possible Rates by Paul Moran
In today's tough economic market, every consumer and auto owner is looking to save money wherever they can. One of the first places people often look when reassessing their budget is car insurance. Looking to compare car insurance rates with different companies is one of the best ways to guarantee that you are saving as much money as possible on car insurance. If you own a vehicle, you know how expensive they are to maintain. On top of car loans that need to be paid on a monthly basis, you also have gasoline costs, repair, maintenance, and insurance premiums. Many of these expenses are out of our control to regulate, except for our car insurance rates. There are many ways you can compare car insurance in today's market. Contacting a local insurance agent to have them provide you a car insurance quote that contains an adequate and recommended coverage, as well as acceptable deductibles, is just one way to compare car insurance premiums. One of the most popular ways to compare car insurance rates is through the internet. Most major insurance companies provide comprehensive websites where you can choose your desired coverage, enter in personal driving information, and ultimately receive a free car insurance quote from the comfort of your own living room. Most insurance websites will require correct and current information about your driving record, age, marital status, location, and the make and model of your vehicle. The more accurate the information you provide, the more precise your car insurance quote will be. One of the most important things to keep in mind when you compare car insurance is to compare all desired coverages, apples to apples. If you are requesting a different coverage and deductible from different companies, you will never truly receive an exact comparison of policies and price.

Car Auctions: The Vehicle Pioneers (Willam Lyons)

Car Auctions: The Vehicle Pioneers (Willam Lyons) by Marian Aldana

In times of serious economic pressure, people have to cut back on expenses and find ways to save cash. People need to be selective with their purchasing, making sure that they get the most value out of their money. Alternative resources need to be examined. In buying cars, auto auctions are an alternative venue that should be looked into. An auto auction generally offers used vehicles. In the USA, the general public does not generally participate in auto auctions, since most are closed events, where only dealers can join. However, an auto auction provides a major venue as a wholesale market for second-hand vehicles. As for auctions that are open to the public, most are usually used as a means for financial services firms to dispose of surplus off-lease returns, as well as for rental and other companies to sell off old models, and for car dealerships to dispose of trade-ins and other unnecessary items. As with pretty much any other business transaction, a prospective buyer should do some research before closing a deal. He should gather information on the car he is interested in buying. Whenever possible he should compare prices of similar models with similar features. He might even be able to negotiate and reduce the price of the vehicle he wants to buy at a car auction. The development of cars is a long and detailed process, involving various contributions from many inventors. Sir William Lyons, sometimes referred to as "Mr. Jaguar" was, with fellow motorcycle enthusiast William Walmsley, the co-founder of the Swallow Sidecar Company, later known as Jaguar Cars. Their business prospered during the 1920's and they went on to manufacture coaches as well. Togethery they designed and eventually built a stylish little two-seater automobile. Most vehicles at the time were plain black cars, and thus the two-toned Swallow caught the public's attention. It soon became very popular, that in 1928 Lyons and Walmsley decided to relocate their operations to the Midlands area of England. They moved to the Foleshill Factory in Coventry, which was regarded as a reliable source of labour supply and other industrial resources. Since car auctions sell mostly previously owned cars, interested parties need to gather information first in order to make the best possible purchase. A potential buyer needs to know the details of the car's make, model, physical condition, and many other things, in order to decide which car would best fit his needs. Fortunately, such information on car auctions is available online. Alameda County Auction is a car auction open to the public, where private individuals can personally go to and view an array of vehicles that come from bank lease ends, fleet returns, county used vehicles, government agency vehicles, and more. To view their list of vehicles and other details, visit ACauction.com

2010 X1 Luxury Compact Crossover SUV Expands the BMW Sports Activity Family

2010 X1 Luxury Compact Crossover SUV Expands the BMW Sports Activity Family by B. Aboul-Nasr

You already know the BMW X family of SUV models. Yet, if you thought that the Bavarian brand was going to watch compact SUVs mushroom from under its X3, you'll have to reconsider.
This time, the BMW X1 is ready to join the growing segment of premium compact crossovers with power, elegance and avant-guard technology in safety, convenience and last but not least, fuel economy measures.
From this autumn, the family of BMW X models will welcome its newest member, the X1 compact crossover SUV, fitting neatly under the larger X3, X5 and X6 brothers. For the United States, the X1 is expected to arrive in calendar year 2011.
Targeted to a younger audience, the new BMW X1 compact proportions should give it the agility and versatility of compact cars (C-segment, lower medium) with the technical substance of a modern premium vehicle made by the largest luxury cars manufacturer in the world.
The X1 body is 4.45 metres (175.2") long, which is significantly longer than the other 1 Series models (4.24 metre / 166.9'' for the 3- and 5- door bodies, or 4.36 metre / 171.7'' in the 1 Series coupe and convertible). Quite logically, it remains shorter than the 4.57 metres 1.79.9'' of the larger X3 brother.
In wheelbase terms, the X1 enjoys a rather long dimension for the compact segment (2.76 metres /108.7''). It is equal to the 3 Series wheelbase (the X1 is a variation of the 3 Series platform), significantly longer than the wheelbase of the 1 Series models (2.66 metres / 104.7'') and slightly shorter than the 2.79 metres /110'' wheelbase of the X3 (More about the main exterior and interior dimensions of the new BMW X1).
On the practical side, the rear seat comes with an adjustable backrest (for angle) and folds down in a 40/20/20 split, extending the luggage compartment capacity from its original 420 litres to a maximum of 1,350 litres. Above the 5 passengers, an electrically operated Panorama glass roof is available as an option.
Depending on the model variant, the X1 proposes gasoline and diesel engines, rear-wheel drive (sDrive versions) or all-wheel-drive technology (xDrive), as well as a range of BMW EfficientDynamics features including Brake Energy Regeneration, Auto Start Stop, and a gearshift point indicator.
Standard features include three-point inertia-reel seat belts all round, frontal and side airbags as well as head airbags at the side, adaptive Brake Lights and daytime driving lights. Options include Xenon headlights, Adaptive Headlights and a High-Beam Assistant.
X1 active safety equipments include high-precision power steering (rack-and-pinion), high-performance brakes, Dynamic Stability Control including Dynamic Traction Control and, as an option, Performance Control acting on the brakes.
In conjunction with the optional Business and Professional navigation systems, the X1 is equipped with the latest generation of BMW iDrive including a Controller and direct selection buttons on the centre console, a Control Display integrated in the instrument panel, and favourite buttons beneath the control panel for the standard air conditioning.
Sophisticated HiFi systems are available as an alternative to the audio system fitted as standard, and the AUX-In port likewise featured as standard may be supplemented by a USB interface. Optional driver assistance systems and a wide range of BMW ConnectedDrive services are also available with the new model.
The X1 will be launched with the following engine and transmission variants:

Toyota Lights

Toyota Lights by lights

You can check here find what you need today. the big world of lights Toyota HID lights are created using xenon and to give an approximate measure of the output they produce, HID lights emit as much light as does a street lamp meaning that for those drivers who are uncomfortable driving at night (and lets face it, who isn't?) the driving experience is so much smoother. A common misconception whenever it comes to technological devices is that we assume that we have to make a choice between both form and function, with no hope of having both. Thankfully, Toyota HID lights manage to overcome this problem as not only will they help to significantly reduce the running costs associated with your car but they are also available in a number of different stylish colors to choose from. Given how competitive the market for Toyota HID lights is, you may want to double check the warranty that is offered by a particular supplier, and you can use this as the final deciding factor to help choose between otherwise equal merchandise. Ohio Rates Rising - Find Low Cost Car Insurance by Virginia Larez
The state of Ohio has had a rate increase of .08% in 2008. Ohio auto insurance premiums are expected to continue to rise into 2009. Some companies' rates have gone up as high as 3%. Reason for these revisions experts have said, is due to more automotives on the roadways, which increases the chances of more accidents. Second reason has said to be, high cost of medical care and repair to vehicles.
To get low cost car insurance there is a number of ways this can be done. One example is by lowering liability coverage limits on policy. Another example is by placing higher deductible on cars or by deleting comprehensive and collision off vehicles that do not need these coverages. If experiencing a rate increase from a current provider consider shopping around for a new company.
The most popular methods to lower your premiums are by comparing carriers rates. One method is by searching the internet and comparing as many insurers as possible to make sure the consumer is getting the best possible price. If one prefers to talk to a person, they can go to their broker or agents office to get price comparisons. By doing these simply suggestions one can avoid overpaying on policies. These forms of ways to get cheaper protections does not cost anything, except for a little of one's time.

Availing Cheap Car Hire Services by Jessisa Thomson

Temporary stays, away from home are not comfortable. Commuting becomes such a hassle! It can get worse if you are out somewhere, where you can't take your car along. Well, not to worry! This has been taken care of through cheap care hire services. These services will solve all your transportation problems. They can even plan your trips for you and give you approximate costs of hiring cars from them.
There are some basics to getting transport solutions through car rentals.
For One Way Trips
These car rentals are great for those people who are not visiting a particular destination but are on road trips. If you haven't yet planed a return journey, then one way rentals are the best.
A good way to find some local car rental services and compare prices and facilities is to go online. You can find detailed information about everything you may need to know as well as contact numbers and addresses if you need to get some info that is not available on the site.
There are some other things to consider such as:
1. Who will be driving? 2. If you are under 25, will you have to cough up an insurance premium? 3. The kind of car you would want and the no of passengers it can seat comfortably? 4. Budget?
Be careful and go through all the terms and conditions as well as fine prints to make sure that are signing the right deal.
24/7 Services
This is best suited for people who are out to make small trips to lots of destinations. Some good car rentals will provide their services all round the clock.
They also provide the option of "pay per hour". All you need to do is to calculate the number of hours that you will need the car for and the rental service will give you an estimate cost. Another option is to pay per mile. This is more feasible and economical.
Under 21 Car Rentals
These are not easy to avail as most car services will only rent their cars to customers over 21. Most of them do not entertain customers under 25. And what's the reason!? Young drivers are fairly inexperienced and risky. If you are under 21 and want to avail a rented car, then be honest about your age. If you do get a car through unfair means and end up having an accident, you may have to cough up thousands of pounds to pay for the damages incurred.
If you are on a meticulously planned trip and you are sure that you won't budge from your routine, then its best that you buy rental services in advance. This way you can make sure that you have the car of your choice when you want it. This is all you will ever need to know about how to avail cheap car rentals.

How Much Does Your Car Really Cost You??

How Much Does Your Car Really Cost You?? by By Buddy Evans, President of Big Bucks Auto™

For some people, cars are a necessity. They need a car to get to and from work, and other places. But for many others, cars are certainly not a requirement. People who live in big cities, for example, often don't need a car, but own a car, even if they're only using it every once in a while.
With the economic problems facing us today and everyone trying to cut back on spending, one has to ask, "Do I really need a car?"
Granted owning a car or two is part and parcel of the American Dream, but so is paying your mortgage, having a decent paying job and putting food on your families table. With these uncertain economic times, if one aspect of your American Dream is preventing you from achieving another more important goal, then maybe it is time to reprioritize. Yes, we understand that you waited your whole life to have that shiny, brand new car of your dreams, but remove your emotions of out of the equation and let's look at the facts.
One way to decide this question is to look at the factors that add up to how much your car really costs you per year.
Whether you drive a total beater, or a nice, expensive, luxurious gas-guzzler; selling your car will certainly save you money. That's because in nearly all instances, mass transit and other forms of commuting are cheaper than owning, maintaining, and fueling a car. We need to look at all the costs involved in car ownership.
Car Insurance
Cost of Gas and Fuel
Maintenance and Repair
Vehicle related licensing, registration and other fees
Car purchase, loan payments and finance charges
Parking, tolls, etc.
Insurance: Automobile insurance costs are huge and keep on going up. Drivers pay more for auto insurance in states with significant urban populations, greater traffic density and a higher cost-of-living, though they are the people that are least required to own a car. Tort liability and other auto laws as well as each state's auto body repair labor costs, liability coverage requirements and theft rates also have an impact on auto insurance prices. While the average annual cost for auto insurance premiums nationwide for 2007 was estimated at $847 per policy, the top five most expensive cities (Detroit, Philadelphia, Newark, Los Angeles, and New York City) have rates from $5,162 to $3,127 per year. Even the most insurance friendly city, Roanoke Virginia, come in at $758.00 per year. That's a nice chunk of change.
Gasoline: Granted gas has decreased to date to a national average under $2.50 a gallon, but the average American still uses 500 to 600 gallons of gasoline every year. As the average fuel economy of new cars and light trucks declined from a high of about 26 miles per gallon in 1988 to less than 24.5 mpg in 1999 due to larger vehicles, more horsepower, and increased sales of sport utility vehicles (SUVs) and trucks, our consumption of gas has gone up with the price. Now almost 50% of the passenger vehicles on the road are SUVs and light trucks that do not have to meet the higher fuel economy standards of cars.
Depending on where in the country you live, and depending on the gas prices, as the average vehicle is driven more than 12,000 miles per year today that adds at least another $1,250.00 to the cost of owning a car. If we happen to see another rise in prices as we did in the early summer of 2008, then you can just about double that number. At 4.10 a gallon, which was the height of the summer 2008 gas price increases, that number goes up to $2,050.00 dollars a year spent on gas alone. We all know it hurts when $50.00 does not even fill up your gas tank.
Repair and Maintenance: Then there is the regular scheduled maintenance for a car. This number is a bit harder to pin down since so many factors must go into keeping a car in safe running condition. Baring the kinds of repairs that we all dread, like your car's drive shaft falling off the bottom of your car at the worst possible time; an oil change, fluid upkeep, and tires happen to all of us on a regular basis. Add in the somewhat semi-annual break change, mufflers and battery replacement and the cost of average car maintenance falls at about $340.00 to 650.00 a year.
Vehicle related licensing, registration and other fees: One needs to add in the costs of licensing and inspection a vehicle as well if we are going to be realistic here. Inspections have a range of prices on them depending on whether or not emissions' testing is involved in your state. Registration and then the cost of keeping your driver's license too must be included. As registrations don't happen every year for everyone, the cost still comes out to between $200.00 and 690.00 per year; if you don't get any tickets.
Purchase, loan payments and finance charges: Then, we can get to the actual cost of the car itself! Granted one can buy an old clunker out of the paper for $1,500.00, but if you are looking at the cost of a new car then based on 2006 prices, the average import price tag was $36,627 while the domestic new car price tag hovered in at $22,855. Average out the two, we have a basis of $29.741 to jump our numbers off of.
That adds up to quite a hunky monthly car loan payment and with credit rates going through the roof, quite a bit of your money paid out in finance charges as well. For example, a new car priced out at 29,000 with a $7,000 down payment /trade in, an average tax of 7% and interest rate at the current US average of 6.58%, the monthly payment will be $549.94. That's $6,599.28 a year here, folks.
Parking: Without getting too insane about figuring in the cost of your home and renting out the driveway or garage for your car, we can just look at tolls and parking costs on a major metropolitan city basis. Average daily rates for parking increased 3.5% from 2006 to 2007 bringing the cost of daily parking in some areas as high as $32.75 per day! That means, even if you just pay for parking on weekdays when you go to work, you can be spending over $8,500.00 just to put your car someplace when you are not using it!
The grand total cost of owning a car in the US is…$19,799.00 per year.
Taking the midrange amounts of the above calculations and adding them all up, it truly is almost twenty thousand dollars a year to keep a new to almost new mid range vehicle on the road in a city in the United States. If you keep that car for 5 years, then you are spending almost 100 thousand dollars for a car, something that can hit a tree and be gone in an instance. For many people that's a new house, or some really great vacations, or your child's college education!
With a number like that staring you in the face, you can really take a good hard look at your emotional ties to your automobile and decided for yourself, "Do I really need to own this car?

What Does a CAR Have to Do With Your Executive Resume?

What Does a CAR Have to Do With Your Executive Resume? by Laura SmithProulx
If you're in the midst of a job hunt, you've likely added information to your resume that shows your job responsibilities and the scope of your authority throughout your career. But does your resume actually tell a story--or ALL of your success stories?
You may have already realized that, in order to give a focused picture of your skills, you'll need to add metrics to your resume. However, the most powerful and meaningful resumes tell several entire stories that add up to a picture of effectiveness over the length of your career--no matter what your situation.
To create a resume that truly represents the full spectrum of what you offer, consider taking a look at the results of your work using the C-A-R (Challenge-Action-Result) strategy.
The C-A-R method consists of these steps: first, describe the situation you faced at work (Challenge), then what you did when faced with it (Action). Last but not least, the outcome (Result) that you achieved is the critical part.
The C-A-R formula is a popular solution to BOTH resume writing and interview situations, and for good reason. When you describe your reaction to business problems, and the way in which you solve them, you give employers a clear picture of how you'll handle similar issues in your next job.
As you might expect, true proof of your capabilities shouldn't merely be saved for the interview! Weaving examples of your achievements and bottom-line contributions in context throughout your resume will allow your leadership brand to take center stage as a theme.
Here are some tips for developing success stories with the C-A-R method that will bring your executive resume to life--and make your accomplishments jump off the page:
1 - Look at your Challenges in context.
All too often, executives will say that they've continually needed to make improvements in the core infrastructure of the businesses they're charged with leading. In these cases, the Challenge is clear.
For other professionals, Challenges can come in the form of transitioning an organization to a new level of competence, or having the charter to improve team performance.
Look carefully at the problems you've been asked to solve, and also at the problems you've NEEDED to solve, in order to lay the foundation for your success stories.
2 - Describe the Actions you took to resolve the issues.
These Actions can be in the form of new programs instituted, design of business processes, or training to assist other professionals in meeting their responsibilities.
In some cases, leadership professionals can be called upon to address issues outside of their typical span of control, such as handling a merger when the company is suddenly acquired.
Whatever the scenario, it's best to describe Actions in very concise fashion, since you'll want to save room to show the impact of the situation (the Results) as the most important part of the story.
3 - Quantify your Results.
Metrics play a crucial role in a compelling and powerful executive resume. In fact, there's no better way to underscore your capabilities for a leadership role than to show a profitable and favorable outcome to your actions.
Where possible, add dollar figures, percentages, year-over-year growth metrics, and other quantifiable information to the story. You'll find that employers will key more into the Results on your resume than any other information you can present.
In order to round out the C-A-R strategy, it's best to reformat your story so that the Results appear FIRST, followed by the Action or Challenge.
These examples demonstrate the use of the C-A-R strategy:
Original Sentence: Grew revenue 21% in 3 different markets.
C-A-R Strategy: Grew revenue 21%, adding $1.7 million in 3 markets by training new sales representatives in benefit selling techniques.
Original Sentence: Improved operations efficiency for production plant.
C-A-R Strategy: Added 20% more operational output, despite use of outdated equipment, by developing training manual to increase employee efficiency.
As you can see, using this method allows you to reframe your achievements by adding the context in which they occurred--which is a key part of these leadership success stories.
Since employers value (and NEED) top performance more than ever in today's economy, resumes that show this information are more well-received, and capture MORE interviews for the candidates they represent.
So, remember that adding achievements to your executive resume is only part of the story you can tell!
Incorporating the C-A-R strategy will more vividly describe your professional and leadership style, competencies, and the positive effects of your work.

How to Stop One Speeding Ticket From Killing Your Car Insurance Rates

How to Stop One Speeding Ticket From Killing Your Car Insurance Rates by Anthony Peck
One of the little white lies most parents try to feed their teen drivers as soon as they get their license is that a single speeding ticket is going to spell death to their car insurance rates. It's a good way to make sure that money conscious teens don't drive carelessly on the roads! Once they actually have that speeding ticket in hand, however, the consequences of a speeding ticket become a lot more real.
Getting a speeding tickets out on the highways is easy, especially if you live in an area with numerous speed limit changes or spend a lot of time on the interstate (where if the speed of traffic is moving below 90 you're doing good). All it takes is a second of inattention on your part and you can be holding a ticket worth hundreds of dollars in court costs.
The good news is, the court system knows how easy getting a speeding ticket can be. Especially for a teenager with a new license. That's why they came up with a few creative solutions to slapping that ticket on your record and calling it a day.
Most drivers with their first speeding ticket will be given the option to attend a driver improvement course (driving school) and may, if they're a young driver, be sentenced to community service. If they successfully complete the course and their service the speeding ticket will be dropped from their record. Why would the ordinarily more than a little money hungry justice system willingly give their drivers this kind of an "out"? Because they know it's easy for drivers to drive a little too fast and they believe the lesson learned is more important than paying the ticket.
And by the time you've done 40 hours of unpaid community service in the hospital emergency room cleaning up after the victims of car accidents like the one you could have had you'll lose the desire to find out how fast your wheels can go!
The good news is, if you successfully complete driving school and avoid a conviction your car insurance company is never going to find out about it. You see, your car insurance provider gets your personal information from the DMV. The DMV only has traffic violations on record that you've been convicted of, since you could be accused of everything and in America you get to be innocent until proven guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt by the court system.
A speeding ticket you're never convicted of is going to have no impact on your car insurance rates, so that first ticket they bring home probably isn't going to spell death to their chances of finding cheap insurance. Sorry moms and dads.
Of course, it's important to make sure that your first speeding ticket is your last. It is possible for a judge to see if you've been assigned driving school before, especially if you get pulled over in the same county, and you're probably not going to get so lucky the next time. So the next time you're out on the highway take a second to think of your car insurance rates and let up on the gas pedal.
Your checking account will thank you.

What to Do in Case of Car Collisions

What to Do in Case of Car Collisions by Darren Agaton

In the United States, there are six million auto accidents per year, according to reports. Out of this number, there are roughly three million victims injured and two million among them got serious injuries
When these numbers are summed up for every year, there would be about 40,000 deaths related to car accidents.

Although each state gives full effort to guarantee safety on the road, there are still drivers who fail to abide the traffic laws, which result to accidents such as car collision.

Causes of Car Collision

As with other vehicle accidents, car collisions also happen for the following grounds:

* Reckless or careless driving

In many cases involving vehicle accidents, often the driver is the negligent party. Reasons, such as failure to see the other car, turning or reversing the car without giving a signal, drunk driving, or driving above the speed limits, result to tragic car collisions.

* Defective parts and defective design of the car

Faulty engine or defective parts of the car can also result to accident. In some cases, fault can be on the part of the manufacturer of the car with defective parts.

* Faulty tires, such as those that are not properly aligned

Most common collisions on the road involve:

* Frontal impact. The most common collisions on the road happen when both parties are involved. This collision is when the front ends of two cars crashed

* Side impacts. Side collision is when a vehicle ran into the side of another car. These usually happen at intersections, parking lots, and in multi-lane roadway.

* Rear impacts. Rear end collision is when a car hit or crashed a vehicle in front.

* Backup collision. This happens when a driver reverses the car into another car. This collision usually occurs in residential driveways and parking lots.

Tips for drivers

Drivers may encounter in any kind of road accident. Once involved, here are some tips to remember:

Auto Finance Becomes Easier At GMAC

Auto Finance Becomes Easier At GMAC by Joe Kent
GMAC showed far steeper losses in Q1 of 2009 compared to earning a year prior, it did show that the first quarter also saw an increase in new auto loans compared with the stagnant fourth quarter of 2008.
What is also good news for GMAC auto financing is that the company will begin serving Chrysler retailers this month says New Jersey Dodge, following GMAC's decision to diversify its auto finance business. Previously, Chicago Chevrolet dealers points out that GMAC's auto finance business has revolved exclusively around sales of General Motors vehicles.
In the fourth quarter of 2008, GMAC saw its most turbulent performance. With dealers closing their doors, car buyers refraining for new car purchases, and the ongoing credit freeze, GMAC was finding difficultly in raising funds. With no new loans coming in, Fort Lauderdale Commercial Vehicles says GMAC was able to become a bank holding company and also received funds from the U.S. Treasury Department via the Troubled Asset Relief Program.
The Treasury purchased about $5 billion shares of GMAC, while also loaning money to GM. While the auto finance company is far from being out of the woods, one commercial equipment leasing company says there are certainly positive signs that the auto lending business has seen its worst performance.

Automotive Technology For Safety, Comfort, and Entertainment

Automotive Technology For Safety, Comfort, and Entertainment by Joe Kent
As the cost of new technology goes down, new cars are increasingly highlighting technology as a major buying feature. This may be nothing new for the premium car segment, but this means that more of this new technology is becoming standard in mid-range and more affordable cars. Let's take a look at some of the in-demand in-car tech innovations.
Around View Monitor
Rear view monitors have become mainstream and no longer have much panache among consumers. The latest camera systems are around view monitors, helping drivers see not just behind the car but around the car. This system was first introduced on the Infiniti EX, a crossover from Nissan's luxury brand. The around view monitor helps drivers navigate tight spaces and avoid minor fender benders. St Louis Acura says the system also makes parallel parking extremely easy.
Ford MyKey
The Ford MyKey is basically a key specifically for teen drivers. The system allows drivers to control a number of functions inside the car, such as top speed, stereo volume, and it controls various warning chimes. Parents can program the Ford MyKey system to their specifications, which Pittsburgh Lincoln Financing says will help to add peace of mind when children are out on the road. MyKey will be standard on the 2010 Ford Focus and Ford Escape hybrid. By 2012, MyKey will become standard on all vehicles.
Automatic Braking Systems
Using sonar and radar, automatic braking technology is able to monitor the closing speed of your car and the car ahead. If it detects that an impact may be imminent, the system will apply the vehicle's brakes automatically without any input from the driver according to one used car dealer Trenton. The system was first featured on the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, but can also be had on the 2010 E-Class. Other vehicles that have adopted similar technology include Lexus and Volvo. While it's not a replacement for safe driving, the system can prevent minor impacts that occur from distractions.
Lane Departure Warning Systems
Lane departure warning systems alert a driver whenever a vehicle begins to veer outside of a lane. When the vehicle steps over a double yellow line, one used Mercedes Baltimore dealer points out that the system helps the drivers avoid a serious accident with an on-coming car, or even a motorcycle. While the system was first developed by Infiniti, it has since found its way into numerous brands including Cadillac, Lexus, Audi, and Mercedes-Benz. Some customers at Acura Service New Haven have thought the system is a bit too sensitive and annoying when it beeps unnecessarily. However, these systems can be shut off manually.
Driver Alertness Monitor
Also developed by Mercedes-Benz is the driver alertness monitor. The system monitors if a driver is falling asleep at the wheel. If the system senses a dozing driver, Mercedes Benz Washington DC says it will attempt to wake the driver up. Typically found on Mercedes S- and E-Class models, the system can also be found on Volvo models as well, including the S80 sedan. While the system could potentially startle a drowsy driver admits Indianapolis Mercedes and potentially could cause an accident, the system should be useful for those driving on long trips or who regularly drive late at night. That being said, anyone getting drowsy at the wheel should immediately pull off the road and call it a night.

History

History
Main article: History of the automobile
Ferdinand Verbiest, a member of a Jesuit mission in China, built the first steam-powered vehicle around 1672 which was of small scale and designed as a toy for the Chinese Emperor that was unable to carry a driver or a passenger, but quite possibly, was the first working steam-powered vehicle ('auto-mobile').[6][7]
Although Nicolas-Joseph Cugnot is often credited with building the first self-propelled mechanical vehicle or automobile in about 1769 by adapting an existing horse-drawn vehicle, this claim is disputed by some[citation needed], who doubt Cugnot's three-wheeler ever ran or was stable. What is not in doubt is that Richard Trevithick built and demonstrated his Puffing Devil road locomotive in 1801, believed by many to be the first demonstration of a steam-powered road vehicle although it was unable to maintain sufficient steam pressure for long periods, and would have been of little practical use.
In Russia, in the 1780s, Ivan Kulibin developed a human-pedalled, three-wheeled carriage with modern features such as a flywheel, brake, gear box, and bearings; however, it was not developed further.[8]
François Isaac de Rivaz, a Swiss inventor, designed the first internal combustion engine, in 1806, which was fueled by a mixture of hydrogen and oxygen and used it to develop the world's first vehicle, albeit rudimentary, to be powered by such an engine. The design was not very successful, as was the case with others such as Samuel Brown, Samuel Morey, and Etienne Lenoir with his hippomobile, who each produced vehicles (usually adapted carriages or carts) powered by clumsy internal combustion engines.[9]
In November 1881 French inventor Gustave Trouvé demonstrated a working three-wheeled automobile that was powered by electricity. This was at the International Exhibition of Electricity in Paris.[10]
Although several other German engineers (including Gottlieb Daimler, Wilhelm Maybach, and Siegfried Marcus) were working on the problem at about the same time, Karl Benz generally is acknowledged as the inventor of the modern automobile.[9]
An automobile powered by his own four-stroke cycle gasoline engine was built in Mannheim, Germany by Karl Benz in 1885 and granted a patent in January of the following year under the auspices of his major company, Benz & Cie., which was founded in 1883. It was an integral design, without the adaptation of other existing components and including several new technological elements to create a new concept. This is what made it worthy of a patent. He began to sell his production vehicles in 1888.

Karl Benz

A photograph of the original Benz Patent Motorwagen, first built in 1885 and awarded the patent for the concept
In 1879 Benz was granted a patent for his first engine, which had been designed in 1878. Many of his other inventions made the use of the internal combustion engine feasible for powering a vehicle. His first Motorwagen was built in 1885 and he was awarded the patent for its invention as of his application on January 29, 1886. Benz began promotion of the vehicle on July 3, 1886 and approximately 25 Benz vehicles were sold between 1888 and 1893, when his first four-wheeler was introduced along with a model intended for affordability. They also were powered with four-stroke engines of his own design. Emile Roger of France, already producing Benz engines under license, now added the Benz automobile to his line of products. Because France was more open to the early automobiles, initially more were built and sold in France through Roger than Benz sold in Germany.
In 1896, Benz designed and patented the first internal-combustion flat engine, called a boxermotor in German. During the last years of the nineteenth century, Benz was the largest automobile company in the world with 572 units produced in 1899 and because of its size, Benz & Cie., became a joint-stock company.
Daimler and Maybach founded Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft (Daimler Motor Company, DMG) in Cannstatt in 1890 and under the brand name, Daimler, sold their first automobile in 1892, which was a horse-drawn stagecoach built by another manufacturer, that they retrofitted with an engine of their design. By 1895 about 30 vehicles had been built by Daimler and Maybach, either at the Daimler works or in the Hotel Hermann, where they set up shop after falling out with their backers. Benz and the Maybach and Daimler team seem to have been unaware of each other's early work. They never worked together because by the time of the merger of the two companies, Daimler and Maybach were no longer part of DMG.
Daimler died in 1900 and later that year, Maybach designed an engine named Daimler-Mercedes, that was placed in a specially-ordered model built to specifications set by Emil Jellinek. This was a production of a small number of vehicles for Jellinek to race and market in his country. Two years later, in 1902, a new model DMG automobile was produced and the model was named Mercedes after the Maybach engine which generated 35 hp. Maybach quit DMG shortly thereafter and opened a business of his own. Rights to the Daimler brand name were sold to other manufacturers.
Karl Benz proposed co-operation between DMG and Benz & Cie. when economic conditions began to deteriorate in Germany following the First World War, but the directors of DMG refused to consider it initially. Negotiations between the two companies resumed several years later when these conditions worsened and, in 1924 they signed an Agreement of Mutual Interest, valid until the year 2000. Both enterprises standardized design, production, purchasing, and sales and they advertised or marketed their automobile models jointly—although keeping their respective brands.
On June 28, 1926, Benz & Cie. and DMG finally merged as the Daimler-Benz company, baptizing all of its automobiles Mercedes Benz as a brand honoring the most important model of the DMG automobiles, the Maybach design later referred to as the 1902 Mercedes-35hp, along with the Benz name. Karl Benz remained a member of the board of directors of Daimler-Benz until his death in 1929 and at times, his two sons participated in the management of the company as well.
In 1890, Emile Levassor and Armand Peugeot of France began producing vehicles with Daimler engines and so laid the foundation of the automobile industry in France.
The first design for an American automobile with a gasoline internal combustion engine was drawn in 1877 by George Selden of Rochester, New York, who applied for a patent for an automobile in 1879, but the patent application expired because the vehicle was never built. After a delay of sixteen years and a series of attachments to his application, on November 5, 1895, Selden was granted a United States patent (U.S. Patent 549,160) for a two-stroke automobile engine, which hindered, more than encouraged, development of automobiles in the United States. His patent was challenged by Henry Ford and others, and overturned in 1911.
In Britain there had been several attempts to build steam cars with varying degrees of success with Thomas Rickett even attempting a production run in 1860.[11] Santler from Malvern is recognized by the Veteran Car Club of Great Britain as having made the first petrol-powered car in the country in 1894[12] followed by Frederick William Lanchester in 1895 but these were both one-offs.[12] The first production vehicles in Great Britain came from the Daimler Motor Company, a company founded by Harry J.
